Which Anderson Silva do we see tonight? Is it the killer who crushed guys like Chris Leben, Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin or the guy who waltzed his way to wins over Patrick Cote and Thales Leites? Randy Couture told Cagewriter that Silva won't have no choice but to fight:
"[Griffin's] been doing a fantastic job in training and I can tell you one thing for sure it's gonna be a fight. He's gonna bring it and get in Anderson's face and make Anderson fight."
Couture says he would use the fence and the floor to try and control Silva but with Griffin it'll be different:
"Forrest has a much different style. He's a huge light heavyweight. He's long, he's got great punching, great kicking. He has some good ground skills. He does own a few good takedowns now and I know that those are tools he sharpened for this fight."
Couture thought that Silva could've opened it up a little more his last two times out but he wasn't willing to outright criticize him based on the fact that Silva was the guy in cage. Couture will watch the fights but will not be in Griffin's corner. Griffin is working with Mark Beecher and Tim Credeur.
Couture also addressed the fact that two of his Xtreme Couture gym members, Amir Sadollah and Johny Hendricks, are squaring off. He said too much is made about fellow fight campers facing each other. It's all about being a professional.
After his fight in Portland on August 29, Couture will be part of the Sports Legends Challenge at The Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas. It's a huge poker tournament where fans get to play with sports stars like Troy Aikman, Bobby Hull, Reggie Jackson, Joe Namath, Mike Ditka, Sugar Ray Leonard, Jim Brown, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Gale Sayers, Michael Strahan, Dr. J, Couture and Chuck Liddell.
